International Business Diploma

The International Business Diploma provides students with business knowledge, communication skills, ethical and legal awareness, and critical-thinking abilities needed to work in a changing global business environment.

Students develop a broad understanding of business operations while gaining specialized knowledge in international trade, finance, accounting, marketing, multinational management, global supply-chain management, leadership, economics, human resources, and information systems.

The program also covers foundational business areas such as financial accounting, business mathematics, statistics, income tax, customer service, business communication, management, and organizational behaviour.

Students complete 1,200 hours of classroom instruction and 240 hours of practicum experience. The practicum allows students to apply their knowledge and develop professional workplace skills.

Graduates may pursue opportunities in public, private, nonprofit, entrepreneurial, and internationally focused organizations.

Before being accepted into the program, applicants must meet the applicable academic or age requirement and provide acceptable evidence of English-language proficiency.

Basic Eligibility

Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • Provide proof of Grade 12 graduation or an equivalent credential; or
  • Be 19 years of age or older.

English-Language Proficiency

Applicants must provide evidence of English-language proficiency through at least one of the following options.

Secondary Education in English

Applicants may provide evidence that they successfully completed three years of full-time secondary education between Grades 8 and 12 in English in a country where English is one of the principal languages.

This may include successful completion of an Adult Graduation Program. Applicants using this option must provide transcripts showing completion of Grade 12 English with a minimum grade of C.

Post-Secondary Education in English

Applicants may provide evidence that they completed two years of full-time post-secondary education at an accredited institution where English was the language of instruction in a country where English is one of the principal languages.

Approved English-Language Test

Applicants may submit verified results from an accepted English-language proficiency test. Test results must be dated no more than two years before the program start date.

Accepted minimum scores include:

  • IELTS Academic: Overall score of 5.5 or higher
  • CAEL: Overall score of 40 or higher
  • Duolingo English Test: Overall score of 95 or higher
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 46 or higher
  • CELPIP: Listening 6, Speaking 6, Reading 5, and Writing 5
  • PTE Academic: Overall score of 43 or higher
  • iTEP: Overall score of 3.5 or higher

Assessment Methods

Students may be assessed through written tests, computer-based activities, assignments, lesson assessments, projects, presentations, and practical coursework.

Continuous assessment allows instructors to monitor student progress throughout the program and provide support when required.

Attendance Requirement

Students must maintain a minimum attendance level of 85%.

Practicum Eligibility

Students must maintain a minimum C grade average and meet the required attendance standard before beginning the practicum component.

Graduation Requirement

Students must achieve a minimum C grade average and successfully complete all courses, assessments, and practicum requirements.
